Internet
Classrooms - Technology for Youth Empowerment
The Macedonian NGO Svest proposes a project which will continue
to introducing information and communication technologies
in the classrooms of Macedonian elementary schools. This project
is a partnership between Svest, the Education Ministry of
Macedonia, and the Macedonian Telecommunications Company.
Svest will coordinate the overall implementation
of the project in the field and it will:
•
Provide
information and communication technology to access the
Internet in eight communities in Macedonia.
•
Establish
effective technology management practices which will successfully
support the integration of technology into every-day school
life in Macedonian schools.
•
Employ
a culturally appropriate teacher professional development
program in Macedonian based on modern educational approaches
that focus on the integration of technology in the classroom.
•
Expose
students to people and cultures outside their communities
through their participation in real-time data and collaborative
projects.
•
Demonstrate
the value of Internet-based resources to enrich learning.
Strengthen teacher skill and understanding of educational
technologies and promote project-based, inquiry-oriented
learning approaches that require students to engage in
collaboration, critical thinking, analysis/synthesis of
data, and problem solving.
Program
Goals and Purpose
The
goal of this program is to educate youth about the democratic
processes and institutions in their communities so that they
become more motivated and better equipped to participate in
the democratic process. This will be accomplished by establishing
pilot youth civic education centers and programs in five Macedonian
municipalities, which utilize modern ICT and educational methodologies
for this purpose. More>>
